Winterdance is an Ontario dogsledding tours company that operates out of the Haliburton Highlands alongside Algonquin Park, and is owned and operated by husband and wife team Hank DeBruin and Tanya McCready-DeBruin.

A winter wonderland, snow sparkling, dogs softly trotting ahead of you, the dogsleds runners gliding under you, the huskies breath in the crisp, clean air. By sharing their passion for sled dogs and the sport, Winterdance aims to give people a true feel & love for the sport of dogsledding and our wonderful dogs! Winterdance has 100 registered purebred Siberian Huskies to love and cuddle with in our kennel - the type of dog most people expect to see when they think of Canadian dogsledding. We have black & whites, silvers, whites and reds. Some with blue eyes, others with gold and brown and some with one of each. Needless to say they have a good representation of the Siberian dogsled breed.
Winterdance's dogsled tours are run mainly on a large piece of private property (close
to 5000 acres) north of Haliburton Lake on the doorstep of Algonquin Park. This
is an unique opportunity to experience the solitude, remoteness and picturesque
beauty of a part of the Ontario that few people will ever see (click here to
read more about our trail system). If you are looking for a place to stay while
you are in Haliburton dogsledding , Winterdance has a newly renovated cozy 3-bedroom cottage retreat suitable for up to 6 people and right down the road from the huskies' kennel.

Haliburton, Ontario, about a 3- to 4-hour drive north of Toronto, on the edge of beautiful Algonquin Park.

Our previous guests have particularly enjoyed the Two-Hour Tour, to get a taste of the wonderful sport of dogsledding. Winterdance will instruct you in the basics of driving a dog team, and then introduce you to your dog team with 4 or 5 of their affectionate Siberian Huskies. Tours have 2 people per sled with clients taking turns riding and driving (if they wish). A guide is always in the lead with their dogsled team. After instructions you're off exploring our east lake trail up to picturesque Bowen Lake. You will be out on the trail with the dogs for approximately 40-45 minutes. Best enjoyed by people in at least average physical shape and on a tight time line.
Longer tours are of coruse also available, as is a Moonlight Tour, an incredibly moving experience and one that is
impossible to put into words. Those looking for some romance will have some private time to gaze at
the moon and stars and if you are lucky hear the distant howl of the resident wolf
pack.
