Greetings!

Well, we made it through the move! Paring down from 3000 square feet to 1100 is no easy task, but it feels wonderful! We moved on June 28, bringing two mattresses (yes, we kept your favourite one for you!), a table, one chair, most of our artwork and some of our clothes. The rest is history. We stayed here two nights, then escaped to Victoria for a month, throwing the keys and the credit card to Ida Cristello, our designer.

Returning on August 1 - this is what we found! Delighted beyond measure, we were. It didn't take us long to host a Lemon Drop Inn reception to give it the real test, and also to welcome our first guests to TDBAB-IV. Now that it's all properly broken in, we're eager to welcome you!

The other big news is The Cruise, a.k.a. TDBAB@SEA. All the details are in this newsletter - please think seriously about joining us. You won't find a better deal, nor a better group of friends to travel with.

See you soon!

  • Theatre in Toronto

The big news in Toronto Theatre is that it's coming back! While the Mirvish and CanStage groups have continued to consistently bring us the finest quality productions, it's always taken a third player to build the draw and reputation that Toronto had just a few years ago, as a major destination for Broadway-styled theatre. The new impresario on Toronto's Great White Way is Dancap, and their playbill reads like the theatre section of the New York Times.

The Drowsy Chaperone - Sept 19 to Oct 14, 2007.
    Spelling Bee - Jan 29 to Feb 10, 2008
    3 Mo' Divas - Mar 4 thru 16, 2008
My Fair Lady -May 8 thru 31, 2008
    Avenue Q - July 29 to Aug 31, 2008
    Jersey Boys - TBA / 2008

Meanwhile, theatre aficionados are blessed with these great longer-running productions from the Mirvish folks:

We Will Rock You- now till Jan 6, 2008
    Dirty Dancing- Opens Oct 31
High School Musical - now till Sep 23
    Cats- Oct 16-21, 2007
And coming next year,Sweeney Todd, Nicholas Nickolby, Twelve Angry Men and The Ha'penny Bridge.

Add to that, a full season of great entertainment from CanStage: The Pillowman, The Elephant Man, Little Shop of Horrors, The Clean House, Fire, Misery and more. Plus the many fine offerings from the 20 or so other mainstream theatres and 50 fringe events on the boards every night in Toronto.

Did you realize that from our new location, you can walk to nearly all these productions? Let the Shows begin, and let us get the best seats available because - you deserve it!

    The ROM's Crystal finally shines!

Fireworks accompanied the long-awaited midnight opening of the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal at the Royal Ontario Museum, considered the boldest architectural addition to Toronto in decades. The crystal, designed by architect Daniel Libeskind, is named in honour of billionaire investor Michael Lee-Chin and his $30 million donation toward its $135 million tab.

The 10-storey-high, 175,000-square-foot, aluminum-and-glass-covered structure houses seven galleries overlooking the street as well as the museum's new main entrance, replacing the former one on Queen's Park. Its futuristic, metallic look and juxtaposition with the rest of the building's classic style has been controversial since the design was first revealed.

The ROM announced several new acquisitions it will display in the new Crystal and its renovated galleries. Among them are a six-metre ichthyosaur, Eurhinosaurus, that will be the centrepiece of a marine display of Mesozoic life, and an Egyptian mummy cover dated to between 986 and 964 BC.

    TDBAB Reunion Cruise

London to Rome on Crystal in May 2008

Since re-discovering the pleasures and the convenience of luxury cruising last year, we've been on four, each a delight in their own way, but one stood apart: Crystal Serenity in the Mediterranean, certainly one of the most wonderfully luxurious trips we've ever enjoyed.

Add to that, the most fun trip we've ever had in all our travels was the TDBAB Reunion Rocky Mountaineer this past spring. Those of you who were with us then will surely agree that, while the scenery was spectacular, the best memories were the continuous laughs we shared with each other - often without even drinking!

Imagine combining these two wonderful experiences into one: A TDBAB Reunion Crystal Cruise. We will be Tour-Conducting a group on one of Crystal's most popular itineraries: London, Northern France and Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar, Southern Spain and France, and Rome. Twelve nights, eight ports, and all at up to half price, from May 7 to 19, 2008.

It's a "group," but no group activities are required: if you want a quiet, exclusive two weeks of pampered luxury, this is also ideal. Of course, you'll be tempted to join one of our legendary Lemon Drop Martini receptions, but nothing is obligatory. Except your pleasure!

The cruise is open to anyone, TDBAB Alumni or not. Bring your friends and family, too. And remember, no one is obligated to spend their time with anyone else. It's a big ship (1000 passengers attended by 550 staff - the highest ratio in the industry, with two pools, up to seven dining venue options each evening, and so much more) and a bigger world to explore at every port.

Please join us! It's an incredible value (HALF OFF the brochure price) and lots of perqs (including a complimentary shore excursion in Barcelona led by Roger!). Deposits are required by October 1, 2007, to hold your stateroom, and all deposits are fully refundable until January 1, 2008. So even if you are only partly sure you can join us, make a deposit now and think about it till the end of December without any risk at all.

The full itinerary and fares are detailed here.

    See you in London!

    Queen Street West

Welcome to our new neighbourhood! Trendy, funky, exciting, ever-changing, unique. Some of Toronto's finest dining is here, as well as more fabric and beads than the rest of the country combined. Bookstores, housewares, fashions both high and low, new and used - something for everyone.

It's always been a favourite destination with our guests, and now - it's in our own back yard! Come, enjoy!
