| Greetings!
Without a doubt, 2004 was our best year ever for TDBAB!
More guests (always a delight), more weddings (a delight and an
honour!), and - the best part - the most repeat guests we've ever
enjoyed. It seems, looking back on the year now, that 2004 was one
long party from the first day of January (repeat guests from
Pittsburgh) to the last day of December (a wedding and repeat
guests from Cleveland).
2005 has started just as socially. This month, we broke new
ground, by travelling with our guests - a weekend trip to New York
City with a couple of our Madison WI friends, and a rendezvous there
with our favourite NYC family - all frequent guests at TDBAB. Photos? Of
course!
Thank you, all, for visiting and reminding us that we are the
luckiest guys in the world to count you as our friends.

No, that's not a description of the antics of your hosts,
but rather the two hottest theatre tickets in town this
spring. And remember, TDBAB will happily arrange VIP House
Seats for any of our guests - only the best, for the best!
WickedMarch 8 - April 24 Long before
Dorothy dropped in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz.
One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and
misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very
popular. How these two unlikely friends end up as the Wicked
Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch makes for the most
spellbinding new musical in years
Ain't Misbehavin'March 31 to June 25 Fats
Waller's upbeat 30s musical revue will "keep you outta
mischief" and jazzed all night long! "A first act that will
knock your ears off and a second that will come back for the
rest of you" - New York Times.

Convention!Canada Bed and Breakfast Hosts, the national
on- line association of bed and breakfast colleagues that we
moderate, held our second annual convention in Toronto /
Niagara / Hamilton in November. Over 50 hosts convened to
share tales, tour other properties and learn new skills from a
series of fascinating presentations. Highlights of the
hilarity included a Cook Off masterminded by Twisted Magnolia
B&B of Dundas, Ontario - with seven teams of six cooks
each, crowding the tiny kitchen of a church hall with an
armload of oddly assorted ingredients and a time limit. The results? Scrumptious!
Shanghai! Our fall jaunt was a week in China, in and
around Shanghai, a last-minute trip made affordable by Rog's
travel connections. Not exactly top of our original list, but
that was before we got there. What a wonderful experience!
Next time, however, we'll pack nothing and start at the
market! Still don't know if those Prada and Burberry jackets
we bought for $25 each were real or knock-offs, but they sure
look good!

| The Lemon Drop Martini |
 |
Quickly adopted as the House Drink at TDBAB, the Lemon
Drop Martini has developed an international following. Jim has
long ago learned that when a guest asks for a recipe, it's not
likely for the Roasted Cherry Tomato Clafoutis, so here
goes:
Lemon Drop Martini 1½ cups Vodka 1½ cups
Lemoncella 1½ cups Grapefruit Juice 1 cup Lemon Juice
Shake vigorously over ice cubes and serve in martini
glasses each rimmed with sugar and garnished with a lemon
slice. Serves, oh, maybe two?

| Keith, the third part of
TDBAB |
 |
Each edition of our newsletter features one of our
"preferred suppliers" who share our dedication to delighting
guests with service beyond expectations. This time, we look
even closer to our heart and hearth, to the member of our
staff who has delighted more guests than any other: our son,
Keith.
Keith was just 11 when we started TDBAB. His primary role
then was to keep his younger brothers, twins Christian and
Ian, quiet when guests were in the house, or rather condo
apartment as it was in the early days. Now, however, Keith
takes on all roles, from toilet swabbing to pancake flipping,
with a lot of luggage toting in between. Always cheerful,
always eager, the place is a brighter place when Keith is with
us, which is most weekdays during the summer and weekends in
the winter.
This is Keith's last year of high school - and we face the
daunting challenge of losing him if he follows in his dad's
footsteps and heads to McGill (Montreal) next year. Naturally,
Jim is rooting for a University of Toronto selection, just to
keep him part time in the kitchen. Meanwhile, the twins are
now 13 and stepping up to the plate, and beds. Soon there will
be nothing for Rog and Jim to do except enjoy a Lemon Drop
with you!
Won't you come visit us, soon? »
