| Dear
Jim,
Whew! Anyone who's visited Toronto in the last few weeks
has surely put to rest the idea of the cold and barren northland
that is Canada. But, each winter we swear never to complain about
the heat again, so we'll not!
With the summer sun comes the broadest range of activities,
festivals and excitement, and new packages and features at TDBAB
that we're eager to share with you. Read about them here ... or
better yet, come and visit! Remember: the Lemon Drop Martinis are
always on tap.
Rog & Jim
P.S. Plans for our Pub Night Reunion in England are
underway. We expect the event to be held somewhere in northern
England on Saturday, November 12, 2005, and all "alumni" of TDBAB
are invited, not just our British friends! In fact, we already have
some confirmations from Canadians and Americans and we're eager to
introduce them to more of our friends. Full details by mid
September! Drop us a line, now, if you plan on attending. The first
drink's on us!
| Stratford / St. Jacobs Tour |
 |
Brand new this month is our full day (10-hr) tour just
for you with our private guide in an executive sedan into the
Mennonite Country of St Jacobs and the Festival City of
Stratford.
Highlights include the beautiful Elora Gorge, a visit to
the antique and kitsch shops of St Jacobs, perhaps a drop in
on a Mennonite family selling quilts or jams, lunch at one of
Southwestern Ontario finest restaurants in an old mill, then
feed the swans and enjoy the shopping at Stratford - with time
if you wish to take in a matinee performance, and one final
stop in Acton, at the Old Hide House with its acres of leather
goods, probably the largest leather outlet in the world!
Of course, as this tour is with a private guide,
you call the shots and the schedule. Want to spend more time
shopping, visit four or five Mennonite homes, skip the leather
outlet - your driver is at your command.
Your guide is a resident of the area, familiar with the
area's rich history and attractions, eager to share them all
with you, in the comfort and luxury that you deserve.

| Keith off to University - Twins taking
over |
 |
It's celebration time at TDBAB as Keith has selected
Toronto's own Ryerson University (Business School), and will
be - here's the best part - living with us during the school
week at least for the first semester.
Jim is already expecting daily help with breakfasts and
chores, but Rog is reminding him of the demands of university
life - and the natural tendency of 18-year- olds to sleep at
every non-study moment.
Meanwhile, our 13-year-old twins, Christian (above, on
left) and Ian, will be taking a larger role in the B&B.
Christian is already the master of hospital corners and Ian
has been charming guests for years now with his father's
natural gregarious nature and eagerness to serve.
The whole family welcomes you to Toronto Downtown Bed and
Breakfast!

| Rog & Jim in
Philadelphia |
 |
How could it be that one of the most beautiful cities
on the continent is just an hour away, and we had never
visited Philadelphia together? The situation was righted with
a quick weekend escape in July, and now we're eager to return
for a longer visit.
Considering Rog's love of academe and especially the famous
schools of the world, it was also an opportunity to visit six
of the best, as well as a walk through the history of this
great city. (Sadly, we have to report, the Liberty Bell -
though still cracked - is surrounded by a baricade and
airport-style security searches. A modern metaphor, perhaps?)
Thanks also to our guests and friends from Cleveland for
hooking us up with relatives in Philly for a delightful
evening with new friends. Isn't this a wonderful business?
Of course we have pictures to share .... »
