Your pampering has started before you arrived, as we have already mailed you a personal copy of DK Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guides' Top Ten Toronto.
Our luxury sedan meets you at the airport, a professional driver waiting there for your arrival, "with a sign and a smile," ready to whisk you directly to our home, a fitting start for your romantic adventure.
Rog and Jim, your attentive hosts, have given the beautiful CNTower View Room, a final inspection. Everything is in place. The bright en suite bath is stocked with luxurious amenities, generous soaps and pampering lotions. Yellow Ducky is scrubbed and ready, perched on the side of your tub. Thick monogrammed towels have been hung with extra loving care.
The welcoming cloud of ironed Egyptian cotton linens and fluffy duvet are tucked into the canopied bed, with custom-made chocolate truffles on your pillows. Inviting micro-fibre monogrammed bathrobes hang in your closet, along with extra pillows, blankets - everything for your added comfort.
The seductive fragrance from a large crystal vase of fresh roses (in your colour choice) gently wafts through the air. The high-definition TV/DVD is set to gentle spa music; the lights are low. A plush white kitten rests on the edge of your bed, a quiet welcome.
A bottle of champagne is on ice, with two crystal glasses and a tray of chocolates.
The coffee, assorted teas, chai and hot chocolate are stocked by the in-room coffee maker for your enjoyment.
The outstanding view from your room is of a busy city street, with streetcars in the foreground, skyscrapers in the background, and the CNTower soaring above - especially lighted every night just for you! Thick glass and solid construction shelter you from the noise, with only the ever-changing view to enjoy.
You may wish to retire to your room for the evening, or you may wish to join us for a wine and cheese reception. The candles are aglow, and the conversation is sparkling. Twist our arm ever so gently and we'll make a pitcher of our famous Lemon Drop Martinis. Join us and we'll discuss the plans for the next three days.
Tomorrow, you pick the time, starts with a gourmet full cooked breakfast, served in our dining room, on a stunning table of fine china and silver. Perhaps it will be our signature dish of Strawberry Pancakes and Sausages - a special recipe of TDBAB, with the pancake batter actually infused with a puree of fresh strawberries, light and fluffy, served surrounded by more fresh berries, whipped cream, and strawberry coulis. The first course may be Fillets of Fresh Grapefruit, broiled, and served with a touch of orange-ginger-Grand Marnier sauce.
Today, you may wish to explore "The World Within A City" that is Toronto, sampling the many ethnic neighbourhoods that comprise this beautiful mosaic. We'll map out a suggested path, based on your own interests. We have an All-Day transit pass for you (included!). Take the Queen Street streetcar from one end to the other, move from Little Portugal, through the Gallery District, Queen West, the Financial Centre, Leslieville, and finally The Beach. Jump on and off wherever the fancy strikes, as often it will. Take off your shoes and feel the sand between your toes, or walk hand in hand up the Boardwalk as the sun sets over the city skyline in the west. Dinner options abound in this trendy neighbourhood. Or maybe you'll head up Spadina to Casa Loma and Spadina House Museum, then the Bata Shoe Museum and down through Chinatown and maybe a bite to eat in Kensington Market before the Art Gallery of Ontario for the afternoon, pausing for a refreshment at home, then and then dinner atop the CN Tower.
The next morning, another eye- and palate-pleasing breakfast - this morning a little lighter, maybe a bowl of Fresh Ripe Berries and Yogurt, followed by an Asparagus and Brie Omelet with a Salad of baby greens, strawberries, shaved red onions, crumbled blue cheese, with a honey-Dijon poppy seed dressing. It's a lighter breakfast this morning because today is your Day at the Spa!
A half day of treatments for both of you: Your experience will begins with a professional trainer meeting you at our home for a short power-walk, jog or run in the area before starting your Spa experience. Your treatments include a private yoga class, an hour of massage therapy for each of you, choice of signature facial or manicure or pedicure, a nutritious lunch. You body, and your soul, will glow as you resume your exploration of Toronto.
This afternoon we suggest you visit the St Lawrence Market, recognized by Food and Wine Magazine as one of the top 25 markets worldwide. The whole area is one of our favourite neighbourhoods in the city, and is also just a short streetcar ride to the Historic Distillery District, North America’s best preserved collection of Victorian industrial architecture, now developed as a centre for arts, culture and entertainment, filled with galleries, artist studios and workshops, boutiques, retail stores, restaurants, bars and cafés. And a brewery with free samples!
An early dinner here is a natural, and excellent choice, followed by an evening of live theatre, at either CanStage or Soulpepper, two of the most respected professional theatre organizations in the country. You chose the production; we'll buy the tickets!
Your third breakfast - another menu - another set of china - this morning might be a rich Fresh Mango / Blueberry Parfait followed by a Full English Breakfast, with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, grilled tomato, mushrooms and baked beans. Home-made jams and jellies, English muffins and toast, juices, coffee, teas - you'll be skipping lunch again!
No, wait! You can't skip lunch today, for it is one of the highlights of today's adventure: A full day private guided tour with guide and driver in a luxury sedan, through the Niagara Peninsula. You'll be visiting some of the dozens of wonderful wineries, and sampling several. There will be a delightful lunch at one of the winery's cafes, overlooking the verdant mountainside of the Niagara Escarpment, the same escarpment that creates Niagara Falls. You'll see that, too, from the edge, and from the bottom, in the thrilling - and drenching - Maid of the Mist ride into the falls. Raincoats provided! Then a stop in Niagara-on-the-lake, the prettiest town in Canada, for shopping and strolling, and sampling at the Fudge Shop. A full day, with lots of excitement and scenery and wine, but relax now, as your driver will bring you home, across the famous Welland Canal and safely and effortlessly back to TDBAB. We dare you not to take a nap on the short return trip.
You'll return to TDBAB refreshed and just in time for cocktails before dinner in any one of the many exciting and romantic dining options in our neighbourhood downtown.
It's Departure Morning now, sad but filled with wonderful memories. Tell us (the night before) what you'd like for breakfast or just relax and let us seek inspiration from whatever looks inviting at the market. Roasted Cherry Tomato Clafoutis? Blueberry and Apple Waffles? Fresh Niagara Peach Bread Pudding?
Check out is by 11 a.m., but please feel free to leave your packed bags and explore a bit more of the City before you have to leave us. Your professional airport transfer service is also included, and will be waiting here whenever you must depart.
Or, extend your stay! There's certainly a lot more to see! We've not touched the upscale shopping Bloor-Yorkville - and you also need another day just to explore Toronto Islands and Harbourfront! Then again, another reason to return!
